Punjab youth council- My unique life experience..

BACKGROUND:

It felt really good when I first saw a notice on my university notice board asking for students to apply to be a part of Chief Minister's Youth Commission. It means that youth i.e students are going to have their say in policy making. It is a very positive step our Chief Minister, Mian Shahbaz Sharif has taken. The prime purpose of this Commission is to involve youth; to have new, fresh and innovative ideas in Policy making to lead our country towards betterment.

The first notice displayed for youth to be a part punjab youth commission(PYC)

First youth conference will be held on 12th June, 2010 where participants will interact with high officials of the Provinicial Government and Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif.Notices and ads have been placed in almost every institute for students to participate, as the one i saw in my university. Students will go through written easy test assessment and those who will secure 60% would come under selection criteria who will then be selected by 8 member division level committee comprising an area MPA, a vice-chancellor, principal of any two postgraduate girls and boys colleges and a male and a female student from private sector.This is one of the things we need to bring change to our Country. So be a part of that change with all your enthusiasm and positive energies.(thanks to madiha munawer)
I talked with my friends so that to have a company to apply for this test.. anyhow Hafiz imran akhtar get ready.It was asked in university notice that students interested for this situation may contact to Director academics as soon as possible, deadline was not mentioned there.our test would be conducted on next day ,told director ACAD at that time of university of sargodha.On 1st of june we were on summer holidays.I visited lahore then to apply for admission test of AMC on 2nd of june,2010Then after 3 days i was pleased to know that i am one of the short-listed students who qualify for interview out of 169 students who attempted test.Interview had been conducted in commissioner office sargodha division.. that day i wait for about    10 hours for my turn.Interview pannel was consisted of:commissioner sargodhaDCO sargodhaDirector colleges(education) sargodha divisionVC University of sargodhaPrinciplals of all govt colleges etc
After interview we were asked to wait for their call. and this was the real tough time for me.Again i travelled to lahore to my brothers Sub-inspector Malik Tanweer & Malik zaheer.zaheer bhai took me to punjab university hostels to his friends there.. i was quite rest less taht day.i called upon university administration to inquire my final result.Finally it was surprised to me that i'm among selected students which will represent sargodha district in FIRST YOUTH CONFERENCE 2010 Lahore.

 FIRST YOUTH CONFERENCE 2010 Lahore:

LAHORE, June 10, 2010 (Frontier Star): The first two-day youth conference of Chief Minister Punjab Youth Commission consisting of 360 youths will begin in Lahore on June 11 (today). The youths have been selected from all the universities and colleges of the province after written test and interviews. The Commission consists of ten youths (five boys and five girls) aged between 18 and 24 selected from each district. In the selection, those youths who are already actively participating in welfare works have been given preference. Punjab Chief Minister Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif will attend both the meetings of the conference

. The conference will evolve a comprehensive strategy to resolve regional problems, inclusion of youths' suggestions in policymaking and providing them an opportunity to play their due role in the implementation of different policies. The young members will be motivated for undertaking welfare and development schemes in their areas as per the vision of Punjab Chief Minister. Talented youths will be provided opportunities to take part in formulation of government policy, legislation and their access to political plans and participation in them. Through the youth members, a database of volunteers will be prepared at tehsil, district and division level.

on next day with a honourable break fast we reached to UHS.The break fast, launch and dinner were quite honourable because it was served by our respected teachers from various colleges of lahore to whom i know very well..

After juma prayer break training session get started and we engaged in work for about 12 hors by our tutors .. really engoyed this proceeding.
A performa was filled by all members comprising:

• Cause of taht problem
• Possible solution for that problem
• What can i do to solve it.

We perform it 2 times; one for disrtrict level and then for divisional level.
The problems mentioned by us are mostly been resolved now:)

1. To build one-way road from khanchi more to makhdum interchange
2. To build university road
3. Establishment of govt boys degree college in sargodha
4. Provide medicines to DHQ sargodha
5. To improve citrus fruit ndustry in sargodha
6. To build hostels for students in sargodha university

PRESS RELEASE OF 1ST DAY SPEECH OF CM SHEHBAZ SHAREEF:

LAHORE, June 11 (APP): Punjab Chief Minister Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif has said that if simple lifestyle was 

preferred over lavish one, viable economic policies were adopted and effective steps were taken for elimination of 

corruption in the last 63 years, Pakistan would have been in a much better position. He said that the gulf between 

the rich and poor is widening and the common man is under the clutches of price-hike. He said that society cannot 

make progress until a poor man considers himself a patriotic Pakistani. He said that for the development of the 

nation and the country, a fair system of justice, equitable distribution of resources will have to be ensured besides 

eliminating injustice and oppression from the society. He said that if Allah gives him an opportunity, merit will prevail 

in the country and all facilities will be available to the rich and the poor alike. He said that the purpose of youth 

conference is to develop a healthy society, purge it from corruption and transform the country as per the vision of 

Quaid-e-Azam and Allama Iqbal by developing a vibrant system.

first 2-day Youth Conference of Chief Minister Punjab Youth Commission, here today. Provincial Education Minister

 Mujtaba Shuja-ur-Rehamn, Members Punjab Assembly Major(R) Abdul Rehman Rana, Col. (R) Shuja Khanzada, 

educationist Dr. Zafar Iqbal Qureshi and 360 members of the Youth Commission from 36 districts of the province 

were also present in the opening session which lasted more than three and half hours. The Chief Minister said that 

new generation is a precious asset that guarantees a bright future for Pakistan. He said that the setting up of 

Punjab Youth Commission is an important step in the history of not only Punjab but also Pakistan which will provide 

opportunities to the talented youths to participate in formulation of government polices, legislation and reforms in 

the society. He said that members of the Youth Commission have reached here through a transparent selection 

process and their parents and teachers deserve appreciation who educated them in such a brilliant manner. He 

told the students that their aims are high and they have the ability to bring change in the society and they can steer 

Pakistan out of the current crisis and put the country on the road to progress. 
 Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif said that 

the first conference of Youth Commission has been organized to ensure participation of youth in reforming the 

system and establishing a healthy society by eradicating poverty, unemployment, price hike and ignorance. He said 

that this dream will come true when the youth will play their due role for the progress and prosperity of Punjab.

Corruption is rampant in police stations where criminals are given respect while oppressed are turned into oppressors for a few bucks. He said the elite are enjoying every facility but the poor are moving from pillar to post to get their needs of roti and medicine fulfilled. He said a society cannot survive without justice and they need to build a welfare society wherein all citizens enjoy equal rights. He said children are forced to do labour instead of getting education, adding that child labour is a blot on the face of the society. He said if we do not achieve the goal of 100 percent literacy rate, we will fail to achieve development targets. He said the future of Pakistan is linked to technical education. He said that besides studying arts subjects, students should pay special attention to science subjects, as scientific knowledge is vital to the development of the country. He said besides preparing the syllabus of vocational education on modern lines and in accordance with the needs of market, five students will be sent to Ivy League Universities for higher studies and after completion of their studies, they can play their due role in this socio-economic development of the country. He asked the young people to come forward who are interested in working voluntarily for increasing literacy rate adding, the government will provide them honorarium.He said that government is implementing a comprehensive programme for eliminating unemployment from the province and recently teachers and constables have been appointed in education and police departments on merit. He said the qualities of hard work and honesty will have to be adopted for a healthy society. He said that Punjab government has also decided to allot state land to agri graduates so that they can play their role in improving the economy. He said Punjab is an agrarian province and solid measures have been taken for the welfare of farmers as 20 thousands tractors have been given to them on concessionary rates in a transparent manner and a subsidy of Rs4 billion has been given for this purpose. Earlier, educationalist Dr Zafar Iqbal Qureshi while addressing the ceremony said that the Youth Commission has been established in accordance with the vision of Punjab Chief Minister. He said the country is passing through a critical phase and if we do not put it on the right track, we cannot achieve our goal. He said that the youth will have to resolve that they will enhance the prestige of Pakistan in the world.

‘Youth key to nation-building’

LAHORE: People are quick to criticise steps taken for people’s welfare, but when it comes to raising voice against people who robbed the Bank of Punjab or those who looted national wealth, Chief Minister Mian Shahbaz Sharif said on Saturday.

He said that no one was criticising those who had loans worth billions of rupees written off.

Addressing the concluding session of the two-day Punjab Youth Conference, the chief minister said that the country depended on its youth to bring it out of crisis.

Sharif announced the setting up of the Punjab Youth Commission and said a considerable amount would be set aside in the provincial budget for the establishment of the Youth Employment Fund. Terming the youth conference unique in the country’s history, Sharif said members of the Punjab Youth Commission had highlighted national problems in an effective manner.

He said that proposals presented by students for resolving national problems indicated that Pakistan ‘will definitely benefit from their positive approach and fresh outlook’. The chief minister said that Pakistan was facing a number of problems.

“We depend upon others to bail us out of tough situations and taking dictation from superpowers has become the norm.”

“If this country is to progress, we will have to ensure the provision of education, health and other facilities to all citizens, from Khyber to Karachi. This will be possible only when experienced people and the youth work together,”

he said.

The chief minister said that the previous government had spent billions of rupees on the Parha Likha Punjab programme but educational institutions still lacked basic facilities which negated tall claims made by people who conceived and executed the project.

Sharif said that fake degrees of politicians were an embarrassment but those who caused to disintegrate the country.

“The transparent recruitment of 38,000 teachers and 12,000 police constables proves that this government is committed to merit,” he said, adding that the establishment of a Punjab Educational Endowment Fund was a milestone. He said that its funding would be increased to Rs6 billion in the coming financial year.

“This will enable five students to be sent to Ivy League universities for higher education,” he said.

“The Danish Schools project has started in southern Punjab. Three schools will be completed in the first phase in the Bahawalpur division within the next 4-5 months,” he said, adding that the project would be expanded to include Dera Ghazi Khan.

Sharif also said that the Sasti Roti scheme was being criticised only because it had been started for the poor.

He admitted that there were flaws in the scheme and steps were being taken to improve it.

The chief minister said there had been some exaggerations regard the expenses pertaining to the Sasti Roti scheme. “Only Rs5.5 billion had been spent on the scheme this year.”

He said he was committed to projects which would help the masses.

Sharif appealed to the participants of the youth conference to come forward and play their part in resolving the nation’s problems.

“I will work with you, shoulder to shoulder,” he promised.

The ceremony was attended by several of provincial ministers, parliamentarians, vice-chancellors, principals, headmasters, teachers, intellectuals and 360 members of the Punjab Youth Commission belonging to 36 districts.

CM not to defend fake degree-holders

LAHORE - Chief Minister Punjab Shahbaz Sharif has condemned the practice of holding fake degrees saying he would never defend such people. The CM was addressing the Youth Commission Conference on the second and last day here on Saturday. He said, however, politicians were not angels after all they too are human beings. He said the founder of fashioning the practice of holding fake degrees was a dictator who in his own interest encouraged the members to amend the laws. Shahbaz stressing on achieving financial autonomy and independence said it was pity that just for the sake of $1.5 billion Pakistan accepted the slavery of IMF. About the upcoming Punjab budget, he said, the government is going to introduce Youth Employment Fund and the amount of Punjab Education Endowment Fund is also being raised to Rs6 billion. At the same he regretted the fact that 50 per cent of the budgetary money went to the commissions and expressed his resolve to curb this menace with the help of all. The CM also expressed his commitment to make the sasti roti scheme a complete success. He said no voice was raised against those who committed a dacoity in the Bank of Punjab, looted national recourses and got waived off loans worth billions of rupees but whenever welfare steps are being taken for the poor, criticism is started. He said no one can even think to deprive the poor people of their livelihood during this price-hike and the nefarious designs of those criticising the Sasti Roti scheme will be foiled by making this scheme a success and the young generation will work shoulder to shoulder with him in this welfare programme. He said that the new generation is the hope of bright future of Pakistan and the entire nation is confident that it will bring out the country from the crises by utilising all its energies. The CM announced making Punjab Youth Commission a formal institution and allocating Youth Employment Fund in the provincial budget. Provincial Ministers, MNAs, MPAs, Senators, vice chancellors, principals, headmasters, teachers, educationists, intellectuals, columnists, 360 members of Punjab Youth Commission belonging to 36 districts and large a number of male and female students attended the ceremony. He said Pakistan had been achieved after numerous sacrifices and it will be made a great welfare state in the real sense. But the way motherland was ruined during the last 63 years, no enemy could not even think of it, he added. He said that today Pakistan is facing a number of problems, depending upon others and taking dictation from them has become a routine matter. He said that now 63 years have become part of the history and there is no use of crying over the wastage of time but we have to march forward by learning from our mistakes and have to mould the country in accordance with the ideals of Quaid-e-Azam and Allama Iqbal and future builders will have to play their key role for this purpose. He said we have to realise the labourers, farmers and workers that they have as much right on the sources of Pakistan as have elite. He said if we have to put the country on the road to progress then we will have to ensure provision of education, health and other facilities to all without any discrimination from Khyber to Karachi and it is only possible when experienced persons and the youth will make efforts jointly.

CM asks youth to monitor Sasti Roti Scheme

LAHORE Punjab Chief Minister Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif presided over a meeting of Youth Commission at CMs Secretariat here on Wednesday, which decided in principle to constitute Punjab Youth Council and its format and charter will be formulated in consultation with members of Youth Commission. Members of the Council will decide their role with regard to education, health, potable water, change in Thana culture, elimination of corruption and other reforms in their respective areas and final shape will be given to the charter of Punjab Youth Council till the end of next month. Addressing the meeting, Shahbaz Sharif said talented students selected through a procedure in a transparent manner throughout the province had given valuable suggestions for the reformation of the system in the meetings of Punjab Youth Commission, which showed that the young generation had a spirit and determination to make the country prosperous. He said the Youth Council was also being established for this purpose so that the builders of the country could be included in the process of policy making and development of the society. Only those nations succeed in the world which face the challenges courageously and Pakistani nation particularly young generation is fully capable to resolve the problems being confronted by the country. Although it is a difficult task yet it is not impossible and we along with the new generation will definitely succeed in bringing out the country from the crisis, he opined. He further said the Punjab government initiated numerous welfare projects including Sasti Roti scheme for the poor. The Scheme is being criticised only for the reason that it is for the downtrodden segment of the society and elite has no interest with it. Although there are some flaws in the Scheme yet concrete steps are being taken for removing these flaws but it doesnt mean that the poor should be deprived of their livelihood due to these shortcomings, he said, while pointing out that only those elements were criticising this programme, which had no concern with the welfare of the orphans, widows and the resourceless. It is lamentable that no one raised voice against those who got waived off loans of billions of rupees and committed dacoity in the Bank of Punjab but a welfare project started for the common man is being criticised. Contradictory claims regarding spending billions of rupees on the Scheme are being made and that the province has been made bankrupt due to this, he said. Shahbaz Sharif mentioned that the fact was that only Rs 4.5 billion were spent on the Scheme during last year and Rs 5 billion had also been allocated for this programme this year. The CM said a comprehensive strategy had been evolved for removing the flaws of this programme.He said the members of Youth Commission should participate enthusiastically in this programme and monitor it in their respective areas so that the deserving persons could be ensured their right. The Punjab Youth Council will be free from politics and it will have only the spirit of service to the country and the nation. Young generation will use this platform for accomplishing the mission of putting the country on the road to progress through hard work and devotion, he added. He told the youth that a committee would consider the recommendations to be presented in consultation with Youth Council and give final shape to the charter of the Council. Members of Youth Commission, MNAs, MPAs and officers of various departments gave their suggestions with regard to establishment of Youth Council, its format and charter. Provincial Ministers Mujtaba Shuja-ur-Rehman, Nadeem Kamran Malik, Members National and Provincial Assemblies, Secretaries of various departments, educationist Dr. Zafar Iqbal Qureshi, prominent scholar Ataul Haq Qasmi and representatives of Youth Commission belonging to nine divisions of the province attended the meeting.

Provincial Youth Council (PYC) Development Program:

Youth empowerment programs held in Youth development centre murree in three sessions each of 3cdays with at least 20 working hours

          Youth Development Center (YDC), Punjab House, Murrree

Selected students are provided 3-5 days residential training on life skills at YDC Murree by experienced trainers working in the areas of communication, presentation, time management, stress management, thinking skills etc. Activities in YDC will also include, personality assessment and profiling activities.

Youth Development Center was inaugurated on 18th July 2010 by the Cheif Minister, Punjab/Chairman-PEEF Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif. Facility is equipped with state of the art equipment including

• Latest computers for each room with high speed internet for inculcating research based activities in participants.
• A conference room equipped with multimedia and an interactive board availability of audio/video conferencing is among the vital proposition at YDC.
• A sophisticated and comfortable common room furnished with suitable equipment to provide a relaxing environment to the participants.
• Facility is equipped with generator for  interruption free power supply.
• YDC, Murree is located at the Prime location of Punjab House, Murree which is a privileged and secure locality.

ICT  & MICROSOFT YOUTH EMPOWERMENT WORKSHOP ON MEDIA & COMMUNICATION IN UNIVERSITY OF LAHORE:

ICT Media training workshop was practised in university of lahore by Microsoft corporation who offered 2 million repees for this project.

Training was carried out in 3 batches in august 2011.

7 days accomodation was provided in MPDD hostels lahore to male students and female students in CSP officers hostels.

CM for equipping youths with modern technology

LAHORE:PUNJAB Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif on Thursday stressed the need for equipping the young generation with modern technology to achieve prosperity.

The Youth Empowerment Workshops organised by the Punjab Youth Council in collaboration with Microsoft started here on Monday. The Workshops aim to enhance the capacity of student volunteers so that they would better able to serve their community. The first week of workshops in Lahore will focus on information technology training for 50 volunteers and will take place at the govt college wahdat road lahore. The next week of workshops will address the media and communication skill development of these volunteers at the new campus of the University of Lahore. In the final week of Lahore workshops, Shirkat Gah will train female volunteers in women’s leadership. The Workshops will build capacity for 50 volunteers of the Punjab Youth Council in each of projects of divisions. The volunteers were selected by the Punjab CM in May of last year for participation in the youth conference and subsequently for membership of the Punjab Youth Council through a competitive selection process. The chief minister commended Chairman Punjab Youth Council Saif Hameed and all the members of the Punjab Youth Council for spreading a spirit of community service throughout the province.

ANTI-DENGUE COMPEIGN:

Friday, October 21, 2011Punjab Chief Minister Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif has said that male and female students have played an active role in the campaign regarding eradication of dengue virus and he appreciated the efforts made by them for creating awareness among the masses regarding dengue virus and its preventive measures.He said this while addressing the youth who took part in the campaign against dengue in the Punjab Assembly. Deputy Speaker Punjab Assembly Rana Mashhood Ahmad Khan, Minister for Education Mujtaba Shuja-ur-Rehman, Member National Assembly & Convener Youth Mobilization Committee Khawaja Saad Rafique, Chairman Punjab Youth Council Saif Hameed and a large number of male and female students were also present on this occasion.Addressing the function, Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif said that young generation is the guarantee of bright future of Pakistan and the key of progress and prosperity of the country is in its hand. He believed that they will play their effective role for making the country strong. He said that at present country is facing numerous problems and internal and external threats. He said that besides other segments of the society, the youth will also have to come forward to save Pakistan and rid the country of dishonest and incompetent leadership. He said that the youth should play their role for spreading the message of reformation of society to every home. He said that dengue virus has badly affected Punjab particularly Lahore but Punjab government devised a comprehensive strategy for controlling this virus and machinery and medicines were immediately imported by air. He said that blood test fee in laboratories was fixed and provision of free medical facilities to the patients in government, private and charity hospitals were ensured. He disclosed that the long term policy for eradication of dengue virus is in final stages and hoped that this virus will not continue for a long time.
